Special Enrollment Period qualification due to changes like job based coverage

If you lose your health coverage through your employer you may qualify for Special Enrollment Period as well as losing your coverage from an employer of a family member. If the employer no longer offers coverage, leaving a job where you had health coverage. Even if your fired or leave by choice. Maybe a reduction in hours causing you to lose your health plan. If the employer’s coverage is not qualifying health coverage you may qualify for a tax credit. Qualifying health coverage means it meets minimum value standards.

Voluntarily dropping your coverage when you’re still working doesn’t qualify you for Special Enrollment Period as well not paying the premium or end it outside the Open Enrollment period.
