Medigap Plan F

Medigap Plan F, which is the most comprehensive plan out of the 10 available Medigap policies. The expansive coverage makes Plan F a popular choice, thought it is the most expensive plan.

Plan F leaves enrollees with no out-of-pocket expenses because it will cover all remaining doctor and hospital costs after Original Medicare Part A and/or Part has paid its portion.

Medigap Plan F will cover:

  • First three pints of blood used in an approved medical procedure (annually)
  • Part A hospice care copayment or coinsurance
  • Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) coinsurance
  • Foreign travel emergency
  • Preventative care Part B coinsurance
  • Part A hospital and coinsurance costs up to an additional 356 days after Medicare benefits are exhausted
  • Part B coinsurance or copayment
  • Part A deductible
  • Part B deductible
  • Part B excess charges

Medigap Plan F could offer expansive coverage, however, it does not cover everything. Under Plan F, enrollees will still be required to pay Medicare Part B premiums payments every month. Additionally, it will be possible to have Medicare Part A without monthly premiums if the enrollees have worked and paid Social Security taxes for at least 10 years.
