Medicare enrollees will have the option to enroll in a Medicare Supplemental Plan D Policy in order to fill in gaps of Original Medicare Parts A and B coverage.
The plans are offered through private insurance companies, so availability and costs will differ by location. Each insurance company are not required to offer any plans other than A and either C or F, so not all companies will offer Medigap Plan D policies.
Each lettered plan however; must provide the same, standardized coverage regardless of carrier and location. Each Medigap Plan policy will offer these benefits:
Medigap Plan D is the middle point between the least comprehensive and most comprehensive Medigap plans. Plan D will cover many out-of pocket costs, which are associated with Original Medicare, but will not cover costs such as Part B excess charges or Part B deductible.
