Its time to review your Medicare Coverage

Medicare’s yearly open enrollment period is here, and all enrollees are encouraged to review their current prescription drug and health coverage plans.

Open enrollment started October 15 and will end December 7th. If you wish to change your Medicare Part or Medicare Advantage plans, this is the time to do it. New coverage plans you pick will start January 1, 2015.  If you are enrolled into Original Medicare and are happy with your plan, you do not need to anything.

The CMS, has announced that the average Medicare Advantage monthly premiums for 2015 will be $33.90. Part D (average basic coverage) will be $32 each month. With the passage of ObamaCare in 2010, Medicare Advantage enrollment has increased by 42%. This is an all-tine high of 16 million people.

Medicare Advantage premiums, however, have decreased by 6%. ACC is also closing the Part D donut hole, with more that 8.3 million people who have saved $12 billion on medications since July.
